Henriot’s wonderful blend of minerality, freshness and generous core of fruit, with its lively acidity and a pretty pinpoint mousse will balance extremely well against oily fish, cold shellfish, crustacea entrees, and vegetable quiche.

• Quinta Das Carvalhas White 2022
Juicy lemon and tasty stone fruit with subtle hints of vanilla and toast, suggest a wine that will slide comfortably through from the starter to a main course, as long as that's not red meat. The fine balance between its generous fruitiness and that elegant crisp lifted edge means it can suit a roast turkey, and many herby and nutty vegetable dishes too.

• Fonte Souto Rose 2021
All-weather Rose whose crunchy red berry flavours will indulge even the pickiest of guests. Fresh aromas of orange blossom, ripe citrus, apricot and pomegranate lead onto a dry, rounded palate with great structure and depth of flavour. Loads of fresh red berry fruit flavours, notes of lychee and white pepper spice all held together with taught, minerally acidity. Great with soft cheeses and fresh salads, roasted vegetables, or just solo.

• Gevrey Chambertin Bouchard Pere & Fils 2019
A Burgundian Pinot Noir whose muscular, fleshy black fruit, gamey notes and soft tannins will stand up to a flavoursome duck, pheasant, and other game bird dishes while at the same time merrily dance with all the trimmings that go onto your table. If you opt for a different red for your mains, a Pinot Noir is also a good option to have if pickles and chutneys are on the dish.

• Chateau Batailley 2004
An aged Bordeaux wine is the classic addition to any fine dinner table. This beautiful claret has patiently developed and mellowed over nearly twenty years to be opened and enjoyed now. The tannins are now resolved into softness and its big and broody dark juicy fruit have transformed into liquorice, prunes, leather and cinnamon spice. These aged-to-perfection attributes will work wonders with most meat based dishes.

• Burmester Vintage Port 1992
Your taste buds by now have tried champagne, soft but powerful Burgundies and aged clarets and are crying out for a sweet delight. This is the time to fortify your dinner experience and bring out a well- aged vintage port to finish off your dinner or even enjoy later in the evening. The Burmester from the good 1992 vintage is delightful to open and enjoy now. After maturing for thirty+ years in the bottle it has evolved into a mature tawny colour with aromas of prunes, figs, dried cherries, cocoa and hints of mint. On the palate it is complex with a perfect balance between the acidity, tannins and depth of figgy flavours, there is a little spiciness in the mouth that adds to the experience. Enjoy with small bites and cheese platters with fig and dates and a variety of blue cheeses; Gorgonzola, Roquefort, Smoked Cheddar, and Smoked Gouda will bring out the best in Vintage Port. If you pair it with a dessert, a chocolate-base pudding will make for an excellent pair.
